Sex is good for you.
I’ve always said that sex is a physical act – it’s like going to the gym, only it’s better for you! Forget about the alleged sin – it’s good for you!
Now it would seem that it’s true. Scientists have spend millions proving that sex – like going to the gym releases a plethora of hormones, neurochemicals and chemicals that are all good for you. That’s why after having dragged yourself to the gym or to bed you feel great afterwards.
The important chemicals released are immunoglobin, an antibody that helps fight disease, oxytocin, serotonin and endorphins – the feel good chemicals, testosterone and oestrogen, hormones essential for our well being.
Sex is the drug and the chemicals released are the side effect. At last side effects that are good for us!
Why are they so good for us?
Sex is good exercise and we know that exercise benefits circulation and lowers cholesterol. Exercise (read sex) boosts the heart which in turn halves the risk of a heart attack or a stroke. It helps firm and tone and burns approximately 300 calories an hour. Now all you have to do is get your average up from 11 minutes to an hour!
Women who absorb semen into their vaginas are less prone to depression. Personally I’d rather be depressed than have an STD!
Orgasm lowers anxiety levels, reduces stress, assists relaxation and induces sleep.
With higher levels of antibodies released during sex your immune system is boosted. Sex therefore helps fight off disease and promotes healing and health. Research shows that this includes fighting off the common cold, flu and prostate cancer.
Increased levels of oestrogen released through sex eases headaches, migraines, PMS and chronic arthritis. Oestrogen is also responsible for shiny hair and that after glow.
Sex bolsters bladder control, increasingly important with every year which brings me to the most interesting reason for having sex. Sex contributes to a healthier, happier and younger looking you.
Oldies that have sex approximately 4 times a week look 10 years younger than their less sexual counterparts. Sex helps improve posture and boosts self esteem. Best of all it helps prevent frown lines and it is a lot cheaper than botox.
These are scientifically the physical reasons, why sex is good for you. There are whole lists of psychological and emotional ones.
Like going to the gym, the more you go and the harder you work out, the better the result,, the better you feel and the more you want to go to the gym and as George Michael once said
‘Sex is not bad, sex is good, not everyone does but everyone should!’
